bristol childrens hospital

‘Public Places, Private Worlds’ was a commission for Bristol Royal Hospital for Children in 2001- 2002. I made eight ceramic boxes containing miniature theatre sets, set into the walls at child height. Each box had a window cut into the face, with a button underneath which said ‘push me’. When pushed, this illuminated the interior. The interior sets were inspired by typical fairytale settings, such as ‘the labyrinth’ and ‘the dark forest’.
